Michael Chang-Frieden represents individuals and institutions in criminal and civil matters, with a focus on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and regulatory enforcement.
Michael has represented clients in connection with investigations by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), and Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). In particular, he has experience in matters involving allegations of economic sanctions violations, money laundering, bank fraud, and insider trading.
+ EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining the firm, Michael served as a policy advisor for counterterrorism sanctions, hostage recovery operations and policy, and other national security issues at the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes. He is a recipient of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Professional Award for Counterproliferation and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) Director’s Law Enforcement Award. During law school, Michael was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
